On the Friday night (the day before the market opened) there were about seven of us getting everything ready which included : ironing bags, pricing every item, packaging the gifts and even putting lavender into little bags to sell :) !!! Even after all of this, we all managed to get some sleep that night and be up bright and early to sell lots of our handmade gifts over the weekend!!

All ready to go :)

All throughout the weekend, there were lots of volunteers who helped out at the market! At some times we even had too many of us there, consequently we had to walk around the market and continuously buy chocolate brownies or curry….yum yum!!!! Anyway, (after getting distracted by the food) we had a very successful time at the market, and were able to publicise YES even more and tell more people about the excellent work we do here for the community!

During the day (Saturday) some of the young volunteers dressed up and were distributing posters for Pride in Brixham to tell as many people as possible about the lights being switched on that evening, as well as the fireworks and the fairground rides down by the harbour! Below shows a photo of a couple of the volunteers :)

Also at the market, Laura and Ntembe of The Tiffin Box, had their very own table and were serving some of their really delicious food (apparently all I did was eat that weekend)!! They had a few young helpers and were so busy both of the days which is excellent for them both! They were able to spread the word about The Tiffin Box, so no doubt they will be extremely popular over the next few months! Well done guys :)

Everyone at YES would like to thank all of those who helped us get everything ready for the market and those who were there to support us over the weekend! A huge well done to everyone :) we’ll definitely do it all again next year!!! x x x x

This year at The Edge we are holding a ‘Christmas Craft Festival’ which will give you the opportunity to make some christmas presents to give to your friends and family or even to help support YES.

It is on Saturday 19th November from 12noon until 3pm. The majority of the crafts are free but some will incur a small charge which is mainly for the use of materials.

There is the opportunity to be involved in a variety of craft activities such as felt making, dichroic glass, dough decorations, upcycling, wood turning, cards and lots more!!!! It will be such a fantastic afternoon and everyone is welcome to come :)

We had over 45 people (of all ages) attend the workshop to work together to come to a conclusion for the direction of YES and it’s future!!

As a group, we all discussed the ‘vision’ of YES. This was a very important factor of the workshop, as we all needed to come to a combined agreement of what the core values of YES are……………

Excellent Visioning Ideas!!!

The photos above show some of the ideas that all of us put together as the vision of YES!!! We wanted to make it clear to everyone ‘What makes YES special/unique’. Everyone contributed at least one idea and each idea was valued as much as the next one!! Some of the ideas (that I have randomly picked out of a hat) are – Love, Making a Difference, Freedom to Be Yourself, Inspiring, and Empowering!!! Many people wrote ‘Christine Guy’ – (Chris is what makes YES a very special place to go, and we would all like to thank Chris for everything that she does. Chris is an inspiration to everyone!! Thanks Chris :) x x

We think that everyone who attended the workshop, were so valuable for YES’s future, as there was such a vast variety of ages that we were all able to voice our opinion and thoughts to help YES grow into an even more successful charity!

An amazing transformation has taken place, and a make shift art gallery has been created!
